statement:

in a self-help culture where doing inner work is seen as vital for growth, trauma and grief are often experienced as obstacles, or something to “work through.” my paintings allow me to view trauma and grief as psychological limbs that are here to stay. these experiences are also entry points into other spiritual realms. although it serves as a means to accept life’s hard reality, my work also exists as an escape from it. the characters in my work – bathed in a glistening, milky haze – are subjects of my internal utopias, where grief is transcended by a state of omniscience and oneness.
